A full rebuild, done in the right order
A bathroom renovation is a sequence of trades that have to happen in the right order, and skipping a step is what causes problems down the track. We run the whole job:
- Strip-out of the old bathroom back to the framing.
- Plumbing and electrical rough-in by the licensed plumbers and electricians we bring in, including any relocated fixtures.
- Waterproofing to the Australian Standard, the step everything else depends on.
- Tiling of floors and walls, set out so the lines work with the room.
- Fit-off of the vanity, toilet, shower screen, tapware and fixtures.
Because it's one team, the stages flow without the gaps and finger-pointing you get when you're chasing separate trades yourself.
Waterproofing is where it lives or dies
If there's one thing we won't rush, it's the waterproofing. The membrane behind your tiles is the only thing keeping water out of the wall and floor structure, and a failure there is one of the most expensive faults a house can develop. We waterproof to standard, let it cure, and only then start tiling. It's invisible when it's done right, which is exactly the point.
This matters even more in older Illawarra homes, where we often pull off the old tiles and find the previous job was never sealed properly and the framing's gone soft. We sort that out as part of the rebuild rather than papering over it.
Tiling, vanities and the finish
Good tiling is the part you see every day, so the setout matters. We plan the tile layout so the cuts fall sensibly, the lines run true and the floor falls correctly to the waste. Then it's the vanity, shower screen, mirror, tapware and accessories, chosen to suit the space, whether that's a compact main bathroom or a larger ensuite. We use coastal-grade fixtures and quality fittings that stand up to the humidity down here.

- Why is waterproofing such a big deal?
- Because it's the one part of a bathroom you never see and can never afford to get wrong. A failed membrane lets water into the wall and floor framing, and by the time you notice the damage, it's expensive. We waterproof to the Australian Standard before any tile goes down, and it's never the corner we cut.
- How long is the bathroom out of action?
- Most bathroom renovations run a couple of weeks on site, a bit longer for a full rebuild or if we hit surprises behind the old walls. We give you a realistic program up front, and if it's your only bathroom we plan the staging to keep the gap as short as possible.
- Can you fix a leaking or water-damaged bathroom?
- Yes, and that's a common reason people call. Once we strip it back we can see how far the damage has gone, repair any affected framing, and rebuild it waterproof. We'll be straight with you about what we find rather than tiling over a problem.
- Do you supply the tiles, vanity and fixtures, or do I?
- Either works. Plenty of clients like to choose their own tiles, vanity and tapware, and we'll guide you on what suits the space and the budget. Others would rather we handle the selections. We sort the lot into a fixed-price proposal so there are no surprises.
